The Meaning of Christmas

I'm sure you've heard; it's not the presents, nor the spirit of giving, nor the family time; its the birth of Jesus.

Well, so what, right?

Really depends on what's your view on Jesus. Some Christian God? Some famous influential saint? What makes Him so important to Christians?
Well it's got EVERYTHING to do with what Christianity is all about!


So presenting...THE GOOD NEWS!!!!! =D

I will try to be as clear as possible, thus presenting in point form the basic truths. All will be based on the Bible, of course.

1. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23)

2. For the wages of sin is death... (Romans 6:23)

3. God loves us, thus He sent His son Jesus to die in our place.

But God demonstrates His love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

...for he made him (Jesus) to be sin for us, him who knew no sin, that we may become the righteousness of God in Him (2 Corinthians 5:21)

(note: Christ died in our place on the cross, and resurrected again, conquering death!)

4. How do we accept this salvation through Christ? First step: Repent!

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9)

5. Second step: Believe!

That if you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. (Romans 10:9-10)

6. You get...ETERNAL LIFE!

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent. (John 17:3)

7. Your choice..

Whoever believe in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, but God's wrath remains on him. (John 3:36)


So really, Jesus is the ultimate act of Love, God sending His son to die in our places, that we might be alive in Christ. You've heard that only Christians go to heaven, well, its true: only those who believe in Jesus go to heaven. Because Jesus made atonement for their sins, the rest who reject this atonement bear their own sins and get eternal punishment aka hell.

But I believe the good news isn't a frightening story: repent or die! I believe its a love story, one of which we (sinners) are offered what we don't deserve. And the best part about Eternal Life is not living forever in heaven, but to know the True God! Ask any Christian and discover knowing God is what life is all about! It defines 'living'! =D

Anyway I really wanted to share the good news for so long now, except I was always unsure how. And really I want to share because, it's GOOD news!
